Many of our August Bible readings in worship will center around the theme of Jesus as the Bread of Life. Each Sunday this month we will sing a theme hymn (ELW 485) of the same title. Focus on how you are given spiritual food for your faith journey.
St. James Welcomes Front Office Assistant Elsa Dougherty
Some may remember Elsa Dougherty from her work as a St. James Choral Scholar from 2017 to 2020. Elsa is a recent graduate from Lewis & Clark College and the Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble’s Institute for Contemporary Performance. She looks forward to getting more involved with the St. James community and ministries. Stop by and say “hello” weekdays from 9-2:00 and Sunday mornings.

St. James Visual Artists’ Group Show — On Display In Person
The Visual Artists’ Group will be presenting the art of Margie Lee in our Pioneer Chapel Gallery. Music Notes: Invitation to Trebles to Sing in Worship on August 22nd
If you have choral experience and want to sing with the summer women’s choir, you are invited. There will be two Thursday evening rehearsals, August 12th at 7-8:00pm and August 19th at 6:45-9:00pm. The second rehearsal will include a party with food. We will then rehearse before worship on Sunday, August 22nd at 8:30am. Contact Susan McBerry or Colin Stave for more information.
St. James Choir Returns
All interested church choir singers are invited to get acquainted with our new Director, Colin Stave. Come to the Choir Kick-Off first rehearsal and potluck on Thursday evening, September 9th to prepare to sing in worship on Sunday, September 12th.
