The Royal Rosarians are hosting the first event of the Portland Rose Festival, the 2023 Blessing of the Festival at St. James Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at 2:00pm. As Prime Minister of the Royal Rosarians, St. James member John Danielson selected the site for the Blessing: “I select the site for the Blessing. I am delighted to hold this year’s blessing at St. James.” He extends an invitation to members of St. James to join him.
“This event asks for a blessing on the upcoming Rose Festival Season and its participants. This traditional service also provides an opportunity to memorialize members and spouses of members of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation, Portland Rose Society, Columbia Pacific Area, Navy League of the United States, and the Royal Rosarians who have passed away during the previous year.
The Blessing is the first public opportunity to introduce the 2023 Rose Festival Court. Following the formal ceremony, the Rose Festival Court and the Royal Rosarians will perform a Rose Planting Ceremony in honor of Pastor David Knapp and the members of St. James. Please join us and be honored.”
