BACH CANTATA 9 — “Es ist das Heil uns kommen her” — Sunday, June 26th at 5:00pm — The 2015-2016 Bach Cantata season at St. James concludes with Bach’s Cantata #9 for the 6th Sunday of Trinity.  The cantata is built on hymn #590 in our red hymnal (“Salvation unto us has come”).  The featured flute part will be played by PSU music faculty Sydney Carlson.  The Bach Choir with professional orchestra of strings, oboe, and flute will be joined by vocal soloists Christine Welch-Elder, Hannah Penn, Les Green, and Kevin...

BACH CANTATA 31 — “Der Himmel lacht! Die Erde jubilieret” (Festival of Easter: “Heaven laughs! Earth exults”) Sunday, May 1st at 5:00pm Bach’s Easter Cantata #31 “Heaven laughs! BACH CANTATA — Weinachtsoratorium, BWV 248 Part V — Sunday, January 10th at 5:00pm — Bach’s Christmas Oratorio Part V composed for the first Sunday in the New Year.  Soloists Christine Welch-Elder, Laura Thorson, Les Gree and Kevin Walsh will join the St. James Bach choir and an orchestra of strings and two oboes d’amore in this cantata based on the Gospel reading on the Flight to Egypt.  The congregation will sing the traditional Quempas Carol with choirs and orchestra.  Pre-service music begins at 4:50.  Freewill offering. ...

10th Anniversary St. James Bach Cantata Vespers
