All critters, great and small, are invited to St. James on Sunday, Oct. 7 for the annual ‘Blessing of the Animals’. Critters will be blessed in the St. James Courtyard at 11:00am. If your pet is unable to attend, a picture will suffice!
The ‘Blessing of the Animals’ takes place each October in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, who is the Patron Saint of Animals.
Download the Blessing of the Animals flyer and help us spread the word!
It is time to decorate and clean God’s house for the Advent and Christmas season. Cleaners and decorators are needed; the more the merrier! Please bring your favorite cleaning rags and supplies!
We will gather in the Pioneer Chapel after Jazz Vespers for Christmas carols and cookies and head outdoors to turn on the Christmas lights! This will be a fun and festive way to ring in the season! Bring your raincoat and favorite Christmas hymn for this sing-along!
Intergenerational Christmas Eve Service at 4:30pm.
This is always a hit with the young families. The children’s excitement anticipates the joy of Christmas morning.
All Christmas decorations will be removed on Jan. 12, and we need just as much help in taking them down as we did in putting them up! Please contact Larry Larsen if you are available to help. Thank you!
The worship journey during Holy Week will be spirit and music-filled; please join us!

On April 25th, restaurants around Portland are donating 20-30 percent of their proceeds to the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon’s HIV Day Center and another local HIV medical case management program, Partnership Project. A list of participating restaurants can be found here: http://www.diningoutforlife.com/portland. McMenamins Market Street Pub is participating in the fundraiser, and they’re located just a few blocks away from St. James at the corner of Market and 10th! Meet there at 5:30pm and help support these local organizations that provide vital programs and services to thousands of individuals living with HIV/AIDS! For more information about the Dining Out for Life event, contact Daniel Perry at dperry@emoregon.org or 503-460-3822, or contact Christine.
Plan to attend this special Celebration of Ordained Ministry at St. James, as we recognize Pastor Andersen’s 25th ordination anniversary and the many other clergy who make St. James the wonderful community it is!
