Community Lenten Services:

† Wednesday, March 7th: Picnic Dinner at First Baptist at 6:00pm, followed by Ecumenical Service at 7:00pm.

† Wednesday, March 14th: Soup Supper at St. James at 6:00pm, followed by Ecumenical Service at 7:00pm.

† Wednesday, March 21st: Ecumenical Service followed by refreshments at First Presbyterian at 7:00pm.

Holy Week:

† Palm Sunday, March 25th: Procession in Park Blocks at 9:30am.

† Maundy Thursday, March 29th: Noon and 7:00pm.

† Good Friday, March 30th: Noon, St. John Passion at 7:00pm. GOOD FRIDAY BACH VESPER will feature music from Bach’s great St. John Passion for choir, soloists, and orchestra with the traditional Passion reading from the Gospel of St. John. The St. James Bach Choir will be joined by a professional orchestra of strings, oboes, flutes, and portative organ, as well as soloists Catherine Van der Salm (soprano), Laura Thoreson (alto), Les Green (tenor), and Kevin Walsh (baritone).

† Easter Vigil, Saturday, March 31st: 7:00pm. The St. James Easter Vigil begins in the St. James courtyard with lighting of the Paschal candle and procession into the darkened Pioneer Chapel. Traditional Vigil readings and responsive psalms will be sung by cantors and congregation in a musical setting for handbells, two cantors, and congregation by Tim Nickel commissioned by St. James. The traditional readings will be complemented by Easter Vigil artwork of Joel Nickel.

Easter:

† Easter Festival, Sunday, April 1st: Music and Celebration at 9:30am. Christ is Risen! Please join us for St. James Easter Festival Worship Service with festive music from the Easter portion of Handel’s “Messiah” for choir, soloists, string quartet, trumpet, and organ. Music begins at 9:15 on Easter morning.
