St. James is located in Portland’s Cultural District facing the South Park Blocks, an area of rich architectural heritage and the city’s cultural heart. St. James has been an integral part of this community for over 100 years. This area of downtown Portland is filled with rising condos and downtown dwellers, brownstone apartments and PSU students, a rich diversity of people from all walks of life that make Portland so uniquely “Portland”. The area is also home to coffee shops and diners, quaint and first-rate restaurants, as well as night life and arts. This walkable area boasts several theaters including the Portland Center for the Performing Arts, the Portland Art Museum, NW Film Center, Oregon Historical Society, and Central Library. The Portland Farmers Market has two locations within walking distance of St. James. Often called “church row” by locals, St. James is located in this area of beautiful churches and other buildings whose architecture is listed on the National Historic Registry.

St. James Apartments
St. James also provides affordable housing for low-income residents at the St. James Apartments. Completed in 1994 as the first affordable housing project to be completed in over a decade, St. James took a leading step forward to provide affordable living in the downtown area.
St. James Child Development Center
The St. James Child Development Center is consistently rated as one of the top child care centers in Portland. The CDC is committed to providing quality care and service to the families who live and work in the downtown area. St. James CDC has been successful using only word-of-mouth advertising and by the presence in the community.
