NOTE: Midweek Eucharist begins again on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025 — and continues every following Wednesday at 12:00 Noon through May 14th, 2025. Pastor David will lead and Colin will be at the piano. In March, Pastor David will guide us in a Bible Study on the themes of the book of Exodus titled “Unlikely Moses and the Nine Commandments.” It will take place immediately following the Wednesday service. Invite a friend to join you.
This spring, Pastor David will lead a mid-week study on Moses. Join him each Wednesday from March 12th – May 14th, 2025 immediately after our 30 minute Noon Eucharist Service in Pioneer Chapel. Who was Moses? Is there archeological evidence that he lived? How many people crossed the Red Sea? Do non-biblical writings mention him? How many commandments did God give Moses? Are those commandments relevant today? Pastor David will draw course material from the scholarship of Richard Nysse (Luther Seminary), Carol Meyers (Duke University), Bart Ehrman (UNC at Chapel Hill), and William Dever (U Arizona – Tucson). Read the book of Exodus. Here’s a look at some of our class topics:
Wed. March 12th “Why Moses Matters”

Wednesday Eucharist
30-minute 12:00 Noon service Every Wednesday in Pioneer Chapel.
A thirty-minute liturgy of Holy Communion takes place in the intimate setting of the Pioneer Chapel. This service provides an opportunity for communal prayer, a brief sermon and reflection. Scriptures may be used from the Daily Lectionary or may reflect the Calendar of Saints and Commemorations available to the wider Christian community.
Wednesday Noon Eucharist …
We gathered for Noon Eucharist and the Imposition of Ashes on Ash Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 as the Season of Lent began. We then joined together every Wednesday following for Noon Eucharist in Pioneer Chapel and a Bible Exploration Class led by Pastor David. These events continued until the Festival of Pentecost in May.
WEDNESDAY NOON EUCHARIST AND CHURCH HISTORY …
We gathered this spring for a midweek reflection and exploration with Pastor David. From February 21st through May 15th, our Lenten and Easter seasons were enhanced by:
–A half-hour Wednesday 12:00 noon service of Eucharist in Pioneer Chapel
–A discussion of our Early Church History at 12:45pm.
–Our study was “From Jesus to Constantine: Early Christianity.” With the help of Professor Bart Ehrman and others we searched for how the Bible was compiled. We looked at the wide-range of “Christianities” that were labeled as heresies and discovered how the creeds of the church came to be. How did the number of followers of Jesus of Nazareth grow from 12 Disciples to the religion of record in the span of 400 years? How does our history inform our faithfulness today?
We continued this mid-week service and study in Pioneer Chapel on Wednesdays at noon. After the 30 minute Eucharist service we gathered for Pastor David’s discussion, “From Jesus to Constantine: How It All Began.” How was the Bible compiled? Where did we get the creeds? How did a small group of Jesus’s disciples become a worldwide church of 2 billion?

Wednesday, August 10th, 2022. Seeing Our Neighbors. Session Four: “Our Journey with Lewis & Clark.” Isaiah 25 and Matthew 22.
This 4th and final session of our Summer Bible Study reminds us that faith, like exploration, helps us see the world and ourselves in a new light. Lewis and Clark’s story illustrates this point. Haresh in Ukraine lives it. Scripture’s words from Isaiah 25 and Matthew 22 underscore it. As always, Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” gets us started. Then join us for an in-person discussion after worship on August 14th.

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022. Seeing Our Neighbors. Session Three: “I Was Hungry. You Gave Me Food.” John 6 and Matthew 25.
“I Was Hungry. You Gave Me Food.” In session #3 we realize that our world hungers for more than food. Your help in Ukraine is sustaining the displaced. Like Lewis and Clark in 1804, our path and skills may need to adjust in order to reach our objectives. As always, Willie Nelson’s song gets us “On the Road Again.”
Wednesday, July 27th, 2022. Seeing Our Neighbors. Session Two: “I Was Sick. You Took Care of Me.” Luke 10 and Matthew 25.
Join Pastor David for session two of his online Bible Study titled “Seeing Our Neighbors.” It will center on Luke 10 and Matthew 25 and draw from real-life stories of how you are helping mothers and children in Ukraine through Lutheran World Relief. Listen in for questions like, “Who is my neighbor?”
