St. James Food Box Ministry:
Helping the Unsheltered with Food Boxes …
Five days a week — every weekday (Monday through Friday) at 11:30am in the Park Blocks in front of our building — we bring boxes of food and needed items to those who gather steps from our door. We offer protein drinks and protein bars, fruit, cup-a-soup, bottled water, new socks, and hygiene items.
Volunteers Needed …
We are in need of volunteers to pick up food donations from Fred Meyer on Tuesday mornings. These donations support our 5-day a week food box ministry to the houseless. If you have a vehicle and would like to get involved in this work, please contact the front desk.
NOTE: Schedule Change …
Our weekday distribution of needed items and food to those near our church continues. Our group will now meet only on Tuesdays, not on Tuesdays and Thursdays as we have in the past. This month we will gather to prepare food boxes on Tuesdays, October 8th and 22nd at 10:00am in Pioneer Chapel.
Recently, donated hygiene kits have been very positively received, so we want to make them a regular item in our boxes. Additionally, St. James recently ordered 24 winter coats for the ministry to hand out in the coming winter months.
We have expanded our food ministry by using a “Reserved for People with Mobility Devices” box.
Our ministry reaches over 4,000 people a year, thanks to your efforts.
