St. James Visual Arts Group: Larry Gross
In the month of September, the Visual Arts Group will be presenting constructions designed by artist Larry Gross with a circle in each composition. Half of them are made of wood. Larry asks us to consider the size, color and placement of the circles in each piece.
In some, the circle represents a seed, the sun, a halo and a symbol of time. In others, he uses the circle as a framing device. You will recognize the same design process that he used for his stained glass drawings and prints. Larry emphasizes the circle, an enduring shape with no beginning and no end, symbolically representing the eternal.
A reception for Larry will be held on September 15th, after the Jazz Vespers Service at 6:00pm.
