We then adjourn to a nearby coffee shop for conversation. Former Lutheran/Episcopal PSU campus pastor Chris Laing is the convener. Why not try it out?

Contemplative Prayer @ St. James Lutheran Church
Jul 20 @ 9:30 am – 11:00 am

NOTE: Contemplative Prayer takes a summer break in August!
No Saturday morning prayer/labyrinth until September. (That means you can “Be Still and Know” without driving to St. James!) Notice when there is a blanket of silence around you and be grateful. Walk the labyrinth on your own. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful in the morning on the weekends.

Contemplative Prayer at St. James meets twice a month.  Weather permitting, we will include a time of walking meditation with the new labyrinth as part of the morning.

Anyone interested in contemplative listening to God is invited to join us. We spend time in silence, in reading sacred texts, and praying for the world, each other and ourselves.

On Sunday, July 21st, our congregation will celebrate the day of our namesake, Saint James, with our traditional feast. Please join us after church in the courtyard for a chance to pay homage to our own St. James, and to share in food, drink, fun, conversation, and community. The church will provide brats, beverages, and ice cream. There will be a sign-up sheet in Pioneer Chapel for folks to sign up to bring other items. Contact Charlotte Cook with any questions.

For several months now, St. James members have partnered with Pastor Bruce Arnold in distributing a meal to those in need. We gather each Tuesday at 6:30pm by the Lincoln statue about a block from St. James. We hand out food, hygiene items and new socks. We have conversation, build relationships and learn about particular needs. We welcome all members to join us in this weekly act of kindness.
